(Crikey's point-of-view):

Oh, blimey, I woke up in a cold sweat; that awful nightmare was the worst one I've ever had! I rubbed my head and groanedin fatigue and fear; as I looked up again, I scanned the room, thinking to myself. Soon, me eyes fell on the gift I was going to give to J.D. 4-1/2 years ago. I knew I wouldn't hold onto that burden for any more years, so I decided to give it to her, now. I took a look at the clock, 1:30 a.m.; perfect timing for this. I switched on the light, drew up a pen, and set to work: I crossed out the message, "To my dearest J.D.", and wrote, "I'm sorry." Thankfully, I already sent a Valencrisp card to Meryl, but this gift had to go!

After dropping off the gift at J.D.'s apartment, I set off to the seaside to set up the fireworks display. "Hey, boss!" a voice called behind me. "When's the bachelor party?" I looked behind me, and there were me criminal mates.
"'Bachelor party'?" I asked. "What are you blokes talking about?!"
"Well," Li'l Lugnuts began. "Word on the street says that you and your new gal are engaged!" With that, the group of Criminals burst out laughing!
I wasn't sure if they were joking, but just to be safe, "Um, you mates are joking, right?" I asked.
"You kidding, Crikey?" one Criminal asked. "Everybody knows that you'll never get married, no matter who the gal is!"
"Uh,... right..." I answered slowly.

(Meryl's point-of-view):

Ah, Valencrisp's Day, the day when lovers get together, and the day that Crikey sets off the fireworks display! I looked at the front door, and there was a little pile of envelopes on the floor. I picked up the envelopes, and flipped through them; soon, I came to an envelope that had poor handwriting on it. I looked at it, turning it over in my hands; I opened it up, and inside was a Valencrisp's Day card. It read, "Hey, Valencrisp, I steal a lot of things, but did I steal your heart? Love you, lass. ~Crikey" I smiled as I read it, and before heading out, I slipped the card into my pocket.

I got into my best outfit, fried up some bacon, and picked up some flowers at the florist's shop. As I headed to the beach, gifts in hand, I was then startled by a familiar high-pitched voice, "Hi, Meryl!" I spun around, and Ogo was right behind me, flying upside-down, no less!
"Oh, hi, Ogo." I chuckled nervously.
"Happy Valencrisp's Day!" he chirped, turning right-side-up.
"Thanks, you too." I replied.
"So, what are you gonna do on this fine day, hmm?" he asked, following me.
"Oh, Crikey is going to set off some fireworks on the beach." I explained.
"Oh, how romantic!" Ogo sighed blissfully. "Say, Meryl, I wanted to ask you something: "Are you gonna marry Crikey?" he asked. "And, mind you that there is only one right answer."

At that question, I was shocked; how can Ogo even think that I'd want to marry Crikey?! "What?! B-B-But," I stammered. "We haven't even been going out that long!"
"I meant, sometime in the future." Ogo replied nervously.
"I don't know," I sighed as I shook my head. "Maybe..."
Ogo stood silently for a moment, until he griped in a frustrated tone of voice, "Oh, I can't believe I posted all that for nothing!"
That remark intrigued me; "Posted what?" I asked.
"Uh..." Ogo began, giving me his best innocent smile. "I kinda posted a 3-page news story that you and Crikey are engaged?"
His innocent talk wasn't fooling me one bit, and I kept telling myself not to get angry; "Why?" I asked in an irritated and embarrassed tone of voice. "Where is your proof? When did either of us propose to the other? "Who would even believe that stupid, fake news story?!" I nearly snapped. Ogo began stuttering and shaking, until he fainted, dead away; "Oh, brother..." I groaned, facepalming as I did.

A few minutes later, I finally made it to the beach; once I got there, I found Crikey sitting on the edge of the shore, and he appeared to be a little on the gloomy side. I was glad that I still had the Valencrisp's Day gifts in my hands; "Hey." I greeted gently, handing him the flowers. The Mechanical giant perked up at the sound of my voice, and smiled weakly, taking the flowers.
"'Ello, lass." he replied.
"Hey, you look a little gloomy," I noted, taking a seat next to him. "Is something on your mind?"
"Well, last night, I had an awful nightmare!" Crikey shuddered. "I was going to make amends with Lizzie, but just as I touched her, she transformed into a demon! "The worst part was that she destroyed nearly the entire town," he continued. "And you, along with it!"
"Oh, that must have been frightening." I gasped, putting a hand on his massive shoulder.
"Aye, it was, lass." Crikey nodded, suddenly holding my hand. "Thank goodness it was only a dream."

"Is anything else on your mind?" I asked.
"Well, me Criminal mates have this silly idea that you and I are engaged." Crikey sighed. "Heh, I'm just glad that they were joking."
"You can blame Ogo for that one." I replied. "He posted a 3-page news story about our so-called 'engagement'."
"He WHAT?!" Crikey nearly screamed.
"I'm not kidding," I answered.
"Oh, if I ever get me hands on that little squeak," he growled, clenching his fists, tightly. "He will pay!"
"I told him to remove the post once he awoke from fainting." I reassured him.
"He'd better." he growled again.

"Yeah," I sighed. "So, anything else bugging you?"
"Well, you know that gift I wanted to give to J.D. 4-1/2 years ago?" Crikey sighed again.
"The one with the bars of gold?" I asked. "Yeah, why?"
"Well, this morning, I finally gave it to her." he gulped.
Gosh, I was surprised; "You gave it to her?" I asked, wanting to make sure.
"Y-Yes..." Crikey sighed.

I couldn't help myself, but right there, I leaped up, and wrapped my arms around the Mechanical giant. He gasped a little, but I didn't release him, and kept the hug going; as the hug continued, I felt that Crikey was growing a little bit warmer to the touch, but I kept the hug going longer. Before long, the Mechanical giant slowly wrapped his arms around me, and hugged me back; I think I heard him sniffle a bit, but I still kept the hug going. "Thanks, lass..." he whispered in a happy tone of voice.
"Feeling a little better?" I asked, pulling away slightly.
"Yeah," Crikey replied, still holding me up. "But, why did you do that?"
"Now, what reason do I have to have, to hug you, Crikey?" I asked.
"Bravery, maybe," Crikey began with a growing smile. "But, I see your point."

Soon, dusk fell, and when Crikey and I returned to the beach, Lizzie was already there, and she was painting a sign of some sort. "Nice work, lass!" Crikey called to her.
"Thank you, big fella!" Lizzie waved. I took a look at the sign, and it read, "Valencrisp's Day Fireworks Show: all couples (and singles) welcome!"
"Ah, this is gonna be great!" I giggled in excitement.
"Aye, lass." Crikey sighed, putting an arm around me, once more. Soon, some couples arrived, and the beach became quite packed.
"Well, this is quite a change," Robot sighed. "And I love it!"
"So do I, Robot!" Monster added, wrapping his arms around Lizzie.

Without warning, Crikey picked me up, and hoisted me onto his massive shoulder, being careful not to hit his spikes. Right there, Crikey gave a signal to someone far away, and the fireworks show began. As the fireworks burst in the air, I was feeling very content, almost as content as I am whilst in a blimp ride. If that wasn't enough, I couldn't help myself, but I leaned over and kissed the metallic convict on the lips, making him blush slightly; he relaxed after a few seconds, and kissed me back. "Aww, how romantic!" Ogo gushed, putting an arm each around his two favorite girls, Darby and Kristi. Crikey clenched his fists again, but didn't pound Ogo. As Crikey and I pulled away from the kiss, we both smiled at each other; this made for the best Valencrisp's Day, ever.
The end. Finally, this little love story comes to an end! Here, Crikey awakens from a terrible nightmare, and decides to give J.D. the gift he was meaning to give her 4-1/2 years ago. On Meryl's side, she runs into Ogo, and the pale yellow Mechanical has a crazy idea about Meryl and Crikey getting married! Thankfully, the 3-page news story will be taken down, and the new couple will be at peace.
