"Oh, me aching head..." the mammoth Mechanical moaned in pain. For the past 4 1/2 years, he has been fighting with the town's most beautiful girl, and every time, he has always lost. During that time, Crikey had a deep, dark secret hidden from the citizens and his criminal cohorts; on this day, however, the big secret was about to be revealed.

As J.D. rode away on Spitfire, Robot DeFault and his pal, Monster Krumholtz, approached Crikey. "Um, Crikey?" Robot asked. "Besides the fact that you can't hit a girl, how come you never really fight back when you're battling J.D.?" That question hit Crikey like a wrecking ball, and there was no use beating about the bush.
"Well, mates, I have a confession to make." he sighed, standing up from his weakened position. He trudged over to a rock and sat down. "There was a time when J.D. and I were..." he gulped, trying to get the right word out, and at the same time, the memories of his past came back to him. "We were lovers." he finally sighed in sorrow. At the sound of those words, a crowd of bystanders gasped and gathered around to hear the rest of the story.
"Lovers?" Monster gasped.
"Aye, lads," Crikey sniffled, blinking back tears. "Ever since we met at daycare, she was me whole world."

(Flashback):
It was true; Crikey and J.D. did use to be lovers in the past. The memories of him meeting J.D. for the first time came back to Crikey: he had just transferred from Australia and, instead of being the bully he is, today, he was being bullied by the other kids. They beat him up and made fun of his appearance and accent, but not J.D.; instead, she felt deeply sorry for him, and put an end to the bullying, once and for all. Even then, she was the prettiest girl of all, and she took care of the bullies, herself. As she stepped up to the young, beaten Crikey, J.D. asked, "Are you okay?" Crikey looked up, saw her, and he was surprised that a beautiful girl like her would be concerned about a "freak of nature" like him. "Aww, you poor thing," J.D. cooed. "Let's get you to the nurse."
A few minutes later, Crikey was all bandaged up; as J.D. was about to leave, Crikey called, "Wait!"
"Yes?" J.D. asked.
"Th-Th-Thank you," the young Mechanical smiled weakly. "For saving me life."
"Oh, you're welcome, boy." J.D. chirped.
"M-My name is Crikey." Crikey stuttered.
"I'm J.D." the young Organic replied. "Nice to meet you, and welcome to the town."
"Um, th-thank you, J.D." Crikey blushed.
"Say, would you like to join me at lunch, later?" J.D. asked.
"Y-Yes, please." Crikey smiled again. And that was the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

During the years of Kindergarten through 8th grade, that friendship blossomed into slight romance. The most memorable moment for Crikey was when he and J.D. exchanged gifts on Valencrisp's Day. Crikey snuck up behind J.D., covered her eyes, and surprised her. Once J.D. turned around, Crikey went over to a boulder, crushed it with his bare hands, and presented one piece to her. That piece was shaped like a heart, and J.D. was thrilled by that gesture! What got Crikey surprised next, was that J.D. picked up an iron bar, and bent it into the shape of a heart. To Crikey, that was the best Valencrisp's Day gift, ever.

During the years of high school, Crikey became a Pole-O star, and earned himself a Letterman's jacket; his shoulder spikes tore through, but that didn't matter, for that night, at Prom Night, he had a special gift for his J.D. That night, he and J.D. got together on the dance floor, and danced the night away. In the final slow-dance, Crikey pulled out his class ring, presented it to J.D., and asked her to be his forever lover.

Then came 4 1/2 years ago: one night, after J.D. left for home, Crikey headed home, as well, but a "help wanted" ad caught his eye. "Criminal leader needed: no experience necessary." Apparently, Crikey found it to be interesting, and headed into the dark alley. The next day, Crikey and his new Criminal cohorts blew up a bank vault and beheld a pile of cash, and a pyramid of gold bars. For Crikey, this was a proud moment, for at the sight of the gold bars, he decided right there to take a few bars with him and give them to J.D. as a gift. In the meantime, on J.D.'s side, she was riding through town with Spitfire, when a "Wanted" poster caught her eye; she removed her goggles to take a closer look, and what she saw next appalled her. Aside from the other known Criminals in the city, the poster mentioned Crikey to be the leader of the gang! "How?" J.D. gasped, blinking back tears. "How?!"
"How what?" Spitfire asked. J.D. didn't say a word, not even when they rode home. The next day, Crikey had just finished wrapping a gift; inside were some of the gold bars he and the other Criminals stole the other day. Just when he got the ribbons all curled, he heard a little "thump" behind him; he turned around, stood up, and walked over to the entrance of the alley. On the ground lay an envelope; being a curious fellow, he picked up the envelope, and opened it. Upon opening it, he found something that he hadn't laid eyes on in years, his class ring. Right there he was confused; who would give back his class ring in an envelope?

He looked in the envelope again, and there was a note inside. As he read more of the note, Crikey's eyes widened in horror; although it was from J.D., the note was a break-up letter! Crikey ran out of the alley in a panic, he was going to explain himself. "Wait, J.D.!" he called. "Wait!" By the time he reached the street, it was too late; J.D. had already ridden away with Spitfire, leaving Crikey in the dark alley. The worst part was that, when she rode away, J.D. never looked back at the now-saddened Mechanical.

(Present day)

As Crikey finished his tale, the people around him were on the verge of tears. "And I bet you blokes think that was funny?" he asked.
"Not one bit, boss!" Li'l Lugnuts sobbed.
"Yeah, how come you never told us?!" Monster wept.
"I never told anyone," Crikey answered in a sad tone of voice. "Because I didn't want to look weak."
"Weak?" Nicky "The Axe" sniffled, wiping a tear from his eye. "All of us are looking weak, right now!"
"Hmph, and all this time, I thought you'd taunt me for going soft." Crikey huffed in a hurt tone of voice.
Well, here's my theory of Crikey's backstory; yes, I know it looks sad, but I just had to submit this! And yes, the other Criminals actually know how their boss feels; who knew that criminals had soft sides?

Such a sad tale. But interesting!
